On a stunning Saturday afternoon (21’C) with a warm breeze and a flick of a coin, HIBS was sent out to field by St Pats Stream. We had some early wickets and with some economic bowling from Harrison Watt and Kahu Gray, St Pats were 25 for 4 after 15 overs. HIBS then continued to pile on the pressure with some sharp fielding and St Pats had no answer for it. Drinks came thankfully for St Pats who sat on 36/6 following two great stumping’s from Cole Kennedy. After drinks the pressure was back on by the HIBS boys who were, quote “Fizzing”, after Liam Ferrier knocked out the middle stump of one of the remaining St Pats batsman. St Pats however were not quite out of it just yet, as they dug in with the tail and closed out there 40 overs managing just 86/9.
HIBS came out to bat with Charlie Wilson and Campbell Webster opening the innings this week. Whilst we got off to a bit of a slow start, after 10 overs we were 31-0, which was the goal chasing this small total. However just after the 10th over Campbell had a brain explosion and hit a simple catch to cover which brought Jacob Yee to the crease. Jacob and Charlie keep on going and Jacob hit some great shots then unfortunately was bowled by a good ball for 19. Cameron Duffy was next into bat and got underway first ball, much to the delight of the crowd. The St Pats bowlers just couldn’t get the rock (Charlie) out and he hit the winning runs to end up on 32 not out and alongside Cameron with 7 not out, the lads recorded a good 8 wicket win.
