After coming off a loss vs St Pats Town the boys were trying to get the first win on the board. We were off to a good start winning the toss and choosing to bat on an absolute road. After Logan Slee was dismissed early, Joe foote and Caleb Hewson steadied the ship and took us to the first drinks break one down. After drinks we quickly lost Joe Foote caught second ball after drinks, this brought Jesse Tashkoff to the crease who scored a quick 46 off 39 hitting 10 fours. After losing Jesse at a key time a collapse followed as we lost 4 batsmen in the space of 5 overs. Caleb made a patient 39 and a solid 20 not out from Daniel Blair allowed us to get through to 168 all out in the 47th over. The total looked well short of par on a terrific pitch and fast outfield.
The lunch saw a variety of food such as Pizza, baking, savouries, toasted sandwiches, sushi and once again lived up to being renowned as one of the best lunches in Prem 1.
We then came out to bowl needing quick wickets and we got exactly that with Caleb picking up Collins, Mendoca and Turner all in the first 8 overs so we had Onlslow in trouble. Then a solid partnership between Leitch and Pile put Onslow back on top. With Footey’s hands still slippery from the lunch we missed two opportunities. Brett McBride then picked up the wicket of Pile and Nathan Watt picked up the wicket of Muller which gave as an opportunity however another solid partnership between Leitch and Matsas put Onslow back into the drivers seat. But there was another twist as Caleb picked up the both of them in the space of two overs with Onslow still needing 30 runs to win with 3 wickets in hand. The Onslow tail proved too good and they cruised home with 4 overs to spare. The pick of the bowlers was Caleb with figures of 5-29 off 9. With this loss we move to 0 from 2 looking to get a win in the next couple go games to get the season back on track.
In our next game we will face rivals St Pats Silverstream in what we expect will be a tightly fought game and hopefully we will be able to get our season back on track. Footey mate leave the greasy food alone.
