First XI start the Premier 1 Competition with a Win over Onslow

Onslow, First XI 150/9 - 152/6 HIBS, First XI
04 Feb 2017 - 11:00Onslow No 1

The first week of prem one saw the boys travel to Onslow College taking on their 1st XI. Winning the toss on a bowl first wicket meant we had Brett “get a haircut” McBride bowling down wind with a gale force behind him.  The first few batsmen did not fare well as Brett ripped through their top order, taking 3-17 off his 10 overs and was the pick of the bowlers.

The rest of the top order scalps were shared throughout the ferocious seam attack which our side possesses. DJ Nathan Watt took one with figures of 1-50 off his 10.  Also in the pickings was Mac “dogggie” Kennerley who snagged two wickets after some great partnership bowling with Campbell “along it ” Webster who also grabbed one.  Jesse “uce” Tashkoff bowled very tidily through the middle and managed to grab two victims with some majestic left arm off spin bowling and ended with figures of 2-20 off 10 overs. After some steady middle order batting from the Onslow boys, they reached a respectable total of 150/9 after their 50 overs.

The chase was always looking red and blue right throughout with a strong opening partnership between Niwa “PSC” Rickard who scored 22(65) and myself 33(53). Solids knocks from the next two, Logan “loves a drive” Slee who chipped in 24(66) and Uce who scored 19(20) helped the boys along to 107-3 after 26 overs leaving the tedious task of chasing 44 more runs in 24 overs. Wides (31) and a few runs from Gus 8(26), Hewson 6(9)* and Young Webster 3(2)* saw the boys chase the 150 runs required in 38.5 overs gaining the bonus point and a great start to the season.

P.S. Special Thanks to young Charlie who came to support the team today. We really appreciate all the support from you boys and look forward to seeing more of you lads in the future
