It was the final of the 1st XI cup. the HIBS lads were looking to make it three from three against our old rivals, Wellington College. The day started off with some chat tunes from the one and only Rachin Ravindra. We lost the toss and got sent into bat on one of the flattest pitches that I have ever seen. Logan Slee and Caleb Hewson got us off to a flyer getting us to 32 runs before Logan and Caleb both got out in quick succession. Shorty after drinks, Rachin and Adam Webster got us a 5th wicket partnership of 104, with Rachin scoring his second hundred for HIBS getting a good score of 112. A few late runs in the end of the innings got us to a good total of 232 at the end of our 50 overs.
The second innings started off with a bang with DJ Nathan Watt grabbing the first wicket in his first over. A good partnership started to form before Matthew Mccomb came in to bowl and broke the chains loose as quick wickets started to fall with Caleb grabbing a wicket, and the injured Rachin grabbing two wickets. The game then ended with another run-out giving us a 45 run win and sending us down to Lincoln for nationals. A massive shout-out to the parents and teachers that managed to get to the game, and from all you boys support for the first half of the season, we really couldn’t have done it without you.
