HIBS 9A rocked up to Onslow College with Charlie Wilson captaining the side today. Gerry ‘lucky’ Green won the toss and decided to bat.
Opening up were Kobe and Nikunj and they were going along solidly until at 28, Kobe went for a big one hitting only air and was stumped for 17 in the 9th over. The Fez (Liam) came in and started well and had a strike rate above 100 his entire innings. Liam and Nikunj both getting 50s before Liam was finally taken by a good catch for a good innings of 65 off 45 balls and a huge partnership of 120 runs. Gerry was the next major contributor and had a great time in the middle batting with Nikunj. Nikunj got his 100 in style hitting a six to bring it up. Nikunj scored 104 off 93 balls including 9 fours and six 6’s before being out stumped in the 34th over. Gerry along with Jacob (17 n.o) finished off the innings with some aggressive batting reaching a big total of 288/7. Gerry made 45 runs off 28 balls including one big six over long on.
Cameron Duffy (1-12 off 6 overs) and Harrison Watt (2 -14 off 6) opened the bowling restricting Onslow to 26/3 after 12 overs. Both bowling perfect lines and Cameron taking the first wicket with a beautiful in-swinging ball. Charlie and Jacob came on next with Jacob getting some good flight and Charlie getting good pace and swing, leaving Onslow in tatters at 46/6 at drinks. After their spell Onslow were 8 down with Charlie figures 1-12 off 6 overs and Jacob 2-19 off 6 overs. Gerry (1-5 off 2) and Kahu (1-1 off 1.1) came into the attack getting 1 wicket each to finish a good win for HIBS.
