The 1st XI get up for an important win over Scots

HIBS, 1st XI 186/10 - 177/10 Scots College, 1st XI
05 Nov 2016 - 11:00HIBS 2A

Once again HIBS won another toss and elected to bat first. Jai went early and Slee followed soon after. After the first ball of the new bowler Joe ducked under a full ball and the ball landed on the bail. Jesse got going for a well earned 60 odd meanwhile Harry collapsed under the dot pressure and went cheaply. After the top order fell it was up to the middle order/tail to get us out of trouble. Caleb got a well controlled 25 and supported Jesse. Webster got a bit of form back with a great knock reaching his career high of 37. We managed to scramble through to 187 all out in the 50th over.

Campbell got one in his first over caught by brother Webster.   Nathan steamed in from the other end and got the number three a bit phased. First change was Matty and Tyler, like usual Matt bowled his in-swingers and went for just 1.50 runs per over and scalped three wickets. From the other end Tyler also bowled well and he really had the Scots guys jumping. Tyler managed to get a few wickets in his first spell and it would have been more but someone dropped two in a row at second slip. The lads began to lose concentration and Scots got a partnership going. Caleb came on to bowl and continued to trouble the batsmen with his change ups. He should’ve had one himself but this time it was Matty who couldn’t keep ahold of it. Jai hit the deck hard from the other end but the game was getting away. However in true HIBS spirit we continued to fight. Tyler came back and got a key breakthrough which changed the context of the game. From there a few mistakes with Scots running between the wickets gave us the game.

Overall it was a below par performance from the boys. However a win’s a win and we will take it any day of the week.

HIBS – 187 all out
Scots – 177 all out
