The HIBS 1st XI stumbled at the 2nd to last hurdle of the NZSSC Regional qualifying tournament over the weekend with a comprehensive loss to a very determined St Pats Stream 1st XI. After dispatching both Scots and Onslow relatively easily in the first 2 rounds, the boys struggled on a deteriorating wicket in the face of some tight bowling from the Stream side.
This will be the first time in 5 years that HIBS have not represented the region at the national tournament and marks the end of a very successful era.
The final of the regional tournament will be played between Wellington College and St Pats Silverstream at the Basin Reserve on Easter Monday. The HIBS Cricket Club wishes both teams the best of luck for the final and hopes that whoever does represent the Wellington region at nationals will be successful in bring back the cup.
